Panther has finally been released, and with it come some good things and
some bad things for XRG. The good news is that XRG uses quite a bit less
CPU time now. It only takes about 2-3% of CPU time on my Powerbook G4 667.
I tried it on a 1.8Ghz G5 at the Chandler Apple Store last night and it
takes less than 1% of the CPU on average on that machine. The bad thing
is that there seems to be a bug with window placement when XRG is first
opened in Panther. If you have XRG displayed on the same edge of the
screen as your dock, it will push the window out of that area every time
the application is loaded. You can move it back to the original spot, but
it will get reset every time you quit XRG. I'm working on a fix for this
and it will hopefully be ready by the next release. Anyway, enjoy Panther
and watch for XRG 0.4.0 sometime soon.

Recently, Yahoo changed the formatting of their CSV stock data, which XRG uses to display the stock graph (thus keeping the stock graph from displaying any data). Unfortunately, it also exposes a bug in the code that causes XRG to leak memory by not freeing the memory used in the parsing routine when a parse error occurs. I modified the code to recognize the new CSV format and fixed the bug in the code that wasn't freeing memory correctly; however, these changes will not be released until the next version is ready. In the mean time, disable the stock graph to stop the memory leak. Sorry if this has caused anyone any inconvenience. I'm hoping to have 0.2.3 released in the next couple of weeks so check back periodically for updates.

Updated the web site. Also, I finally got around to creating another icon. The icon at the top of the page will be the default for XRG v0.2.1 and later.

XRG 0.2.0 released. 0.2.0 has been marked as a development release. This means that it isn't as stable as 0.1.5, and it may have a few bugs or memory leaks.

XRG 0.2.0 should be ready in the next couple of weeks. The primary new features
that will be included are a stock graph and a redesigned preferences panel.
A lot of users have commented that XRG's icon could use some improvement. I am
by no means a graphics artist, so if someone out there has an idea for a new icon
and would be willing to design it, please get
in touch with me.

XRG 0.1.5 is almost done. This release will be composed of mostly bug fixes and
small interface enhancements. Some new features include options to change the graph
refresh rate and display the system load average in the CPU graph.
