About the Developer

I've been a Mac user ever since I was 7 years old when my dad brought home a Mac 512KE in 1984. Since then I've owned mostly Powerbooks (Powerbook 5300ce, Pismo Powerbook 400, Powerbook G4), and so far all of my XRG development has been on a Titanium Powerbook G4 667 (pre-DVI). I've used Linux, FreeBSD and other open source software since 1996. Finally in August 2002 I decided I wanted to give something back to the open source community, and what better platform to use than MacOS X. Thus XRG was born.

As far as education is concerned, I graduated from the University of California at Santa Barbara in 2000 with a BS degree in Computer Science. While there, my primary interests were in networking and embedded systems. Now I'm working as a software engineer and systems administrator for a company called Ephibian in Tucson, AZ. The programming languages that I prefer to use include Objective C (of course), Perl, and Java. Other languages I've used quite a bit include Visual Basic, XML/XSLT, C/C++, Pascal, Fortran, VHDL and Motorola PowerQUICC assembly. I'm constantly interested in learning new languages, and XRG has been good in that it is my first Cocoa/Objective C application and it has helped me learn both Cocoa and Objective C.

Interests outside computers include bodyboarding (very difficult to do in Arizona, but occasionally I'll visit San Diego), mountain biking, and photography (you can see some of my work here). I also enjoy spending time and traveling with my wife Katrina. If you're still curious about me, you can visit my personal website, though I haven't updated it in awhile.
